The filtration takes place in two basic stages:

2. Secondly, it runs through a special ultraviolet lamp (UV lamp by Philips) which sterilizes the water (it is certified that it eliminates 99,999% of pathogenic microbes)
This technology is amazing! It is ultra efficient and very economic. Actually it is environment friendly too... The filter doesn't consume any energy until you open the water supply. Once you open the water supply an electronic switch activates the lamp to disinfect the water.
This lamp is created specifically for this purpose by Philips, and it consumes only 10W. As soon as you stop the water flow it switches off and it consumes zero energy. So it's good for the environment and your wallet!
